September 1: Knowing when to step back
I decided to play with my stencils today, to celebrate finally unearthing them from a random pile in the studio. If there's one consistent theme running through these sessions over the last couple weeks, it's this: I'm not nearly as acquainted with my art supplies as I thought I was.
I tried a few different mediums with the stencils and quickly learned that a lot of materials just don't play well with them. Made a genuine hot mess of a page. Normally I'd push through and keep trying to fix it — but something told me to just move on instead.
I added some of my go-to white dots to a page, and that's when it hit me: my art journal mojo was just thin today. So I closed the book. A reset felt like the right call. I'll try again tomorrow.
