Day 36
August 29: Watching paint dry
Today's session was basically about watching paint dry — and I mean that in the best way. I'm endlessly fascinated by what watercolors do as they dry on the page: big pools of water settling down into these gorgeous blooms and unexpected color mixes. It never gets old.

In an effort to manage my genuinely insane collection of paper scraps, I willy-nilly pasted a bunch of them onto blank pages in my book — no plan, just get them in there. Which then challenged me to build backgrounds around the bits, or work with what was already stuck down instead of starting clean.

I'd been putting that off for a while. Turns out it's a strange kind of challenge for me — less about the painting, more about surrendering control to whatever's already on the page.

This is not the palette I used, but it is the one I would buy if I were replaceing it.
